EU Injury Database

Period: 2008-2009

Funding Institution: 50 000 euros

Partners : Emergency Department, Children’s Hospital, coordinator dr. Daniel Nour, Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication, coordinator dr. Cristian Boeriu.

Objectives:

  • The aim of the project is to create at European level a database with reference to causes of all types of accidents leading to injuries.   Thus, the circumstances of accidents as well as the prevention methods will be identified.
  • In order to achieve the aim, a data collection instrument was created and a coding system for the introduction of data in an electronic database. Through this pilot project we are seeking the calibration of collection instruments and data storage at European level.
  • Other objectives of the project are:
  • To collect the information about external causes of morbidity and mortality (accidents, poisonings etc)
  • Identify the products and objects associated to accidents
  • Monitor the accidents
  • To offer information for the identification of risk factors
  • To facilitate the elaboration of regional programs of intervention and accident prevention


Period of time:12 months

Number of collected cases: 3000 cases
